 Sleep deprived

Well now that Steffy is feeling better I thought that I would get more sleep no bloody chance of that happening.

The idiots from the railways have decided that it is a very good idea to clean the railway tracks, now normally I would not have a issue with this noisy task but hell they are doing it at night until 1am every morning for the past 3 nights.

Casey our Great Dane is terrified of all the noise & trys to force her way into the house through a window…you guessed it she does not fit…. So last night I let Casey in I then had to contend with a very excitable Great Dane who thought she could sleep on the bed, I managed to convince her to sleep on the floor next to me.

I swear if the buggers clean the track again tonight someone is going to get shot…. I really need my sleep.

Just had a call from Home ....KEIRA is now sick, she has been sleeping all day & her temp is very low...DH is going to try get off work eary so that we can get her to the Doc ASAP. Please keep my little monster in your thoughts & prayers

 Monday message

Well I am happy to announce that Steffy is feeling a lot better, i felt so bad for her last night as she was having the worse tummy cramps ever lest to say we did not get much sleep last night.

I am full of flu but I guess thats because I have not been sleeping much & my immune systems is a bit stuffed.

VJ called he is going to going around to the house this afternoon to pick up the PC that DH fixed for him I really wish he would come round when I am home, I guess the kid is still pissed with me. No other real news. My sister has finally discovered facebook so we have been catching up with a lot of old frinds which has really been great. Other than that nothing interesting to report....

 My busy weekend

well lets see.... friday was a hectic day at work they annouced my promotion I am really chufed about it, it took some seriously had work. On the down side I will only get my new salary when they appoint a new receptionist/telesales/business development administrator. Now i feel this is a raw deal as i will be doing my current work plus all my new work an gonna have to have a chat to the boss about this.....When we got home we found Steffy being really ill she was in a semi comotosed condition & looks awful, she was un-responsive, I totally freaked out & we rushed her to hospital, the causaualty Doc wanted to have her admitted, in the mean time I was giving her rehydrate which thank goodness she was drinking. We were sent up to the ward but DH had to go to our social worker to get copies of Steffy’s birth certificate as her file was at work. Any how the doctors decided it was a good idea to go for dinner & left us for about an hour before attending to us, by then Steffy had improved 100 % because I was giving her rehydrate which we had brought from home. Any how she was sent home & because I had all the meds at home we were given nothing extra. Saturday Steffy lived off rehydrate today we have managed to give her small amounts of food which seem to have stayed in. I hate seeing my baby girl sick.
Well its back to work tomorrow....YUCK

 Great Truths

Thanks Roxy for this it had me in stitches.

REAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptise cats.
2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fibre, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you
once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:

At age 4 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
At age 17 success is . . having a drivers licence.
At age 35 success is . having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 70 success is . .. . having a drivers licence.
At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.

Lion drops in for take-aways
14/08/2007 23:06 - (SA)

Pretoria - A Pretoria family got the fright of their lives at the weekend when a lion jumped onto the back of their bakkie to get to chicken leftovers in a cooler.

Ursula MacPherson says they'd been on an outing to the Lion Park near Lanseria Airport when the lion "dopped in" for a take-away.

She says they'd had a picnic lunch before taking a drive through the lion camps.

But they forgotten about the left-overs.

"The lion probably caught a whiff of the chicken, which was in a cooler bag on the back of the bakkie.

"Next thing, there he was."

When he couldn't get to the chicken, he settled on the baby's pram instead, says MacPherson.

He jumped off and went to lie in the shade of a tree, where he proceeded to demolish the pram.

"We told staff about the pram and they jumped onto the back of our bakkie, armed with a plastic rake and some kind of panga.

"When we got back, there were more lions. But the guys easily saw them off and retrieved what was left of the pram.

MacPherson says a friend whose bakkie they were driving, has no intention of getting rid of the scratches the lion's claws made.

"It's not every day a lion climbs onto the back of your bakkie, he says."

Meanwhile lion expert Wouter van Hoven has warned people not to leave leftovers on the back of a vehicle when they visit such spots.

Van Hoven, of the Uiversity of Pretoria's Centre for Wildlife Management, told Amanda Roestoff: "A lion will do everything possible to get hold of it."

He warned that any form of dried blood or animal remains would lure lions, because the big cats were "curious" by nature.

The lions would show zero interest if there were just things like oil and tools on the back of the bakkie, he said.

"This was not abnormal behaviour at all," Van Hoven said of the incident. - Beeld User (Courtesy of Beeld reader Ursula MacPherson)
