Saturday News on Ben Ben in ICU
(Dec 22, 2007) -
Hello friends
How wonderful you all are! We are so overwelmed by the kindness, compassion and support all our TLC friends have poured out on us in the last few days. We are blessed beyond measure.
Benjamin spent a peaceful 2nd night in ICU. He is being such a brave boy. He is being fed a high protein fluid by nasal gastric tube, he is on a morphine based pain management program and has to go back to theatre on Sunday for further treatment with a product called Bio-Brand, apparently a very effective burns treatment.
When we visit he cannot see us and we can only touch his right hand and his legs so he likes to just listen. He can croak out a little and likes us to sing to him or recite "The owl and the Pussy cat", his favourite nursery rhyme - he joins in a little.
Yesterday the parish priest, father Maurice came and prayed with Benny and he was so happy to join in the "Amens". He has some lovely ladies looking after him - they are so kind and he seems to be quite the celebrity around there.
Our wonderful Volunteer Eric spoke to the hospital on our behalf and they have agreed to allow us to pay once the international funds coming in have been cleared by the bank - so a big thank you to Eric and Cora Muller of Netcare.
To all of you offering help and prayers - words are not enough to convey our gratitude. When we started this ministry and wanted to give every child the best we could, we had no idea how many people would support that vision.
Thank you
